Trying to understand all the subtleties of Excel or Spreadsheets when choosing THAT one formula can be extremely time-consuming, and what’s more, if you have to do a lot of repetitive steps in the same spreadsheets… Fortunately, we have IoT tools that simplify the process considerably. Let’s take a look at how to use Formula Bot, Airtable and SheetGPT.
Formula Bot
“Formula Bot is a tool that helps you create formulas and analyse data. The tool is free to try.
How do I use Formula Bot?
Go to “formulabot.com” and click on the purple “Get started for free” button. You will need to register by entering your email address and confirming it.
Signing up gives you a range of features that can be useful at work. You can try them out in the left-hand window of the website.
The main functions of the tool:
- Formula generation,
- Data analytics,
- The ability to embed the IoT Assistant into the applications you use (i.e. Excel or Spreadsheets).
How do I use the formula generation function?
Click on “Generate now” under “Generators” in the left corner of the screen. In the newly opened corner, click on the green “Formulas” button. If you have clicked everything correctly, you should see the following window:
Click on the Excel button and select that you want to generate the formula (not interpret it). In this case, just describe the situation or problem you want to solve (or for which you want to generate an Excel formula”).
For example, if we want to generate a formula to calculate the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of a company, we present our situation in writing: “Calculate the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for values in column A, using” investment duration “in column B, restricted to entries from the current year in column C.”
The answer we get is that we can simply plug it into our Excel spreadsheet and enjoy the precise functionality:
We can also get an explanation if the logic of the formula is questionable. Just click “Explain it to me”. So if the subtleties of Excel are harder for you to get to grips with – Formula Bot is a great helper.
Airtable
“Airtableis a platform that combines database, spreadsheet and collaboration software functions. It can be used for a wide range of tasks such as project management, contact databases, task lists, document management and more. Let’s take a look at some of the key components that help you manage your data more efficiently.
Databases
Bases are collections of tables that can be used for a specific purpose. “Airtable offers a range of pre-designed templates, such as “Content Calendar”, “Project Tracking” and “Event Planning”, which can be used to quickly create a database. In addition, bases can be customised and created completely from scratch, and can be stored in a folder on the computer containing an Excel file.
Tables
Tables form the basis of any base, so there may even be several of them. Each table, like the worksheets of a spreadsheet, contains information about a particular element.
For example, a database for social media marketing could include Facebook, Instagram and Twitter tables. They represent the different platforms needed for successful social media marketing and each is different from the others.
Fields
Fields have a similar function to columns in a spreadsheet. Their data is presented in rows in a consistent manner. However, fields are more versatile than simple spreadsheet cells because they can store a variety of information such as file attachments, dates, pictures, checkboxes, etc.
Recordings
Entries are individual elements in the table. The number of entries depends on you, and can be dozens of creative tools or hundreds of customer feedback forms. No matter how many records you need, you can create as many as you need.
Views
Here are the different ways of displaying data. For example, a table with a list of tasks and their due dates, as well as the progress of each task, can be displayed in calendar or Kanban format.
The calendar view will provide an overview of the deadlines for each task and the Kanban format will show the progress of each task.
“Benefits of Airtable
- Collaboration: the app enables efficient task assignment and job sharing.
- Spreadsheet-like interface: easy to use with attachments, text, checkboxes and links.
- Templates: lots of ready-made templates to get your project started quickly.
- Customisability: you can choose the visual elements you like (grid, Kanban, calendar), etc.
- Work automation with IoT: automating repetitive tasks.
- Real-time tracking: provides real-time tracking of changes to tables and records.
SheetGPT
“SheetGPT, a tool that allows you to integrate ChatGPT into Google Sheets and Excel to automate many data processing and analysis tasks. SheetGPT is particularly useful for data cleansing, SEO content creation, analytics and even social media content creation. A good solution for both business and personal use to process information faster and more efficiently.
“SheetGPT works by installing its extension and is easy to use, as all you have to do is make a request like ChatGPT. And the tool is free. Find more free examples of IoT tools. We will discuss more about how to use SheetGPT in future blogs.
